what a great meeting we had on Saturday!!
Lots of business done, great to chat with everyone and of course, a fabulous show and tell too - way to go WNY MQG! :)
For all of you who couldn't come this time, here are meeting minutes to keep you up to date, courtesy of our wonderful secretary, Anne:

WNYMQG Meeting Minutes - July 2013
Show and tell:
-Some name tags were
completed, others in process.
-Based on quilts shown by
this group, we should have at least a dozen quilts/quilt tops to show at the
Amherst Quilt Guild meeting, if not more.
Great work!
-Check out Rebecca’s blog for
her tote bag patterns!
Amherst
Quilt Guild: - Rebecca has outline for
Amherst Quilt Guild presentation. (Thank you!)
(Thursday, August 15th, 2013. This will replace our August
meeting. The WNYMQG board members will meet before/after.)
Elmwood
Village: -In theory, we are
interested in exhibiting here at some point, but right now we don’t have enough
finished work. Anne will call Sandy and
discuss/thank her and postpone.
MQG
National Membership: -Rebecca reviewed
the membership requirements and by-laws, which were voted upon and
adopted. Rebecca has secured an
EIN. It was voted upon and agreed to
increase dues to $25 / year so that we can cover costs for National Membership;
current members to pay $15 difference and new members to pay $25. Stephanie will collect dues and also look
into getting a P.O. Box # and bank account (vs. just the paypal account)
-Officers will have
2 year term, with terms to be staggered.
-Board members to
have a 3 year term.
-The by-laws as
provided by the national MQG are good, general guidelines which can be tweaked
later as our guild grows.
-Items required for
National Membership:
-EIN,
Financial statement, by-laws/501c3 info, names of officers and positions,
membership roster.
Challenges: -Cut your “special” fabric and
begin making it into something! (Stephanie, Anne, and Rebecca…anybody else?) J
-There is a double
wedding-ring challenge
-Art Field trip to
be planned by Anne…info to follow.
Schedule: -The board will plan the dates
and times of the next several meetings to attempt to maximize
attendance/membership and to allow members to plan. We will do a mix of days, times, places as
discussed.
